How we research, source and review our content.
DoshaWise is an educational Ayurveda library. Every article is grounded in classical Ayurvedic texts and, where available, peer-reviewed modern research — never in blogs, forums or anecdote.
Our mission
DoshaWise exists to make traditional Ayurvedic knowledge available in plain, accurate English — for readers, students, curious clinicians and health-literate adults. We do not offer personalised medical consultations, diagnosis, or treatment. Everything here is educational.
Sources we accept
Articles are researched from the following categories only:
- Classical Ayurvedic texts: Charaka Samhitā, Sushruta Samhitā, Aṣṭāṅga Hṛdayam and Aṣṭāṅga Saṅgraha (the Bṛhat Trayī), Mādhava Nidāna, Śārṅgadhara Samhitā, Bhāvaprakāśa Nighaṇṭu and Dhanvantari Nighaṇṭu — with chapter/verse citations where meaningful.
- Peer-reviewed research: PubMed / NCBI, the Journal of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine (JAIM), Cochrane reviews and other indexed clinical journals.
- Government and international bodies: Ministry of AYUSH (Government of India), CCRAS, the World Health Organization's traditional medicine benchmarks, and the Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India.
- Textbooks and materia medica: Nadkarni's Indian Materia Medica, Frawley & Lad's Yoga of Herbs, and equivalent reference works widely cited in academic Ayurveda programmes.
We do not use personal blogs, forum posts, social media, influencer claims, unsourced folk recipes, or supplement-brand marketing as sources.
How we handle uncertainty
When evidence is limited or traditional-only, we say so explicitly — phrases like "traditionally used for…", "classical texts describe…" or "limited clinical evidence suggests…" are deliberate. We do not translate traditional-use into modern medical claims.
Editorial review
Articles are drafted from primary sources and reviewed by our founder and editorial lead Kiranmaye Cartier, an Ayurveda Diet & Lifestyle Consultant with formal training in classical Ayurveda. Where relevant, technical passages are cross-checked against the classical Sanskrit texts. Every article records its published and last-reviewed dates.
Corrections
We correct factual errors quickly. If you spot one — a mistranslated Sanskrit term, a mis-cited verse, a herb caution that's missing — email contactus@doshawise.com with the article URL and, where possible, a source we can verify against.
