Traditional uses

How it is taken
300–500 mg standardized extract (≥30% boswellic acids) twice daily, or 1/2 tsp gum-resin churna with warm water.
Avoid in
- ✕Pregnancy and lactation (insufficient data)
- ✕Active peptic ulcer
- ✕With strong immunosuppressants — may interact
Allergies
Burseraceae family (frankincense, myrrh). Skin rash possible.
Classical alternatives
Guggulu Yogaraj for Vata-predominant joint pain; Nirgundi taila external for localized pain.
When to see a doctor
Persistent or severe symptoms, pregnancy, children under 12, anyone on prescription medication, and any new or worsening condition should be reviewed by a qualified clinician (GP or vaidya) before starting Shallaki. Mild GI upset, acid reflux in some individuals.
