Fast-Food Hot Clear Veg Broth with Pepper

Midday or early evening · before the heavy Kapha hours of 6–10 p.m.

When the only choices in the food court are pizza, sandwiches and pastries, a hot cup of clear vegetable broth with a generous twist of black pepper is the Kapha-pacifying rescue meal. Available at almost every Asian noodle counter and most airport delis.

Ingredients
- ·1 mug (250 ml) clear vegetable broth — no noodles, no cream, no cheese
- ·Generous twist of freshly cracked black pepper (ask the counter)
- ·Juice of 1/4 fresh lemon
- ·Optional: 1/4 tsp dry ginger powder from your travel kit
- ·Optional: 1 tsp fresh coriander leaves
Method
- 01Order a 'clear' vegetable broth or miso/dashi without noodles, fish flakes or cream.
- 02While it is still steaming, crack in plenty of black pepper.
- 03Squeeze in the lemon and stir in the ginger powder if you carry it.
- 04Sip slowly over 10 minutes — chew any soft vegetables thoroughly.
Nutrition notes
Per mug (≈): 35 kcal · 2 g protein · 6 g carbs · 0.5 g fat. Light, warm, dipana (agni-kindling); piperine and gingerol mobilise Kapha-type stagnation.
Serving notes
Pair with one small piece of dry-roasted flatbread (khakhra, crispbread). Avoid pairing with bread, cheese, sweet drinks or dessert at the same sitting.
Practitioner note
Skip miso if you are sensitive to sodium. Avoid creamy bisques, chowders, or anything labelled 'velouté'.
