Overnight Raisin & Fennel Hotel Soak

Drākṣā-Śatapuṣpā Hima

Serves 1
Pitta
Sunrise
Best timing

Sunrise · on rising, 20 minutes before any other food or tea.

Suggested spices

Fennel · Green cardamom · Coriander seed (optional)

A cooling overnight infusion you can build in a hotel glass before bed. By morning it is a sweet, hydrating, gently laxative breakfast that calms acid reflux, hot-weather irritability and the dehydration of long-haul flights.

Pacifies Pitta · cools internal heat from travel stress

Ingredients

  • ·10 black or golden raisins (unsulphured if possible)
  • ·1 tsp whole fennel seeds, lightly bruised
  • ·1 cup cool filtered or bottled still water
  • ·Optional: 2 cardamom pods, lightly crushed
  • ·Optional: 1 tsp rose water in the morning

Method

  1. 01Before bed, place raisins, fennel and cardamom in a clean glass or travel bottle; add the water.
  2. 02Cover loosely and leave at room temperature overnight (6–8 hours).
  3. 03In the morning, sip the infusion slowly and chew the soaked raisins one by one.
  4. 04Stir in rose water for extra cooling if available.

Nutrition notes

Per serving (≈): 90 kcal · 1 g protein · 22 g carbs · 0 g fat · 2 g fiber. Natural fructose plus potassium replenishes flight-day hydration; fennel anethole is anti-spasmodic and cooling.

Serving notes

A glass jam jar or a 250 ml screw-top travel bottle works perfectly. Carry raisins and fennel in a single zip-bag through security.

Practitioner note

If you tend toward constipation on travel days, increase to 15 raisins. Skip if you have active diarrhoea.
