Ginger-Jaggery Vata Tea

Ārdraka Guḍa Pāna

Serves 2 cups
Vata
Afternoon
Best timing

Afternoon · 3–5 p.m., the classical Vata hour, or 30 minutes before a light dinner.

Suggested spices

Fresh ginger · Green cardamom · Cinnamon (optional) · Fennel (for bloat-prone Vata)

A warming afternoon tea for cold hands, bloating and the 3 p.m. Vata slump. Fresh ginger kindles agni, jaggery grounds, and a touch of ghee carries the warmth deep into the tissues.

Specifically pacifies Vata

Ingredients

  • ·1 inch fresh ginger, sliced
  • ·2 cups water
  • ·1 tsp jaggery (or to taste)
  • ·1/4 tsp ghee
  • ·Pinch of cardamom
  • ·Squeeze of fresh lemon (optional)

Method

  1. 01Simmer the sliced ginger in water for 6–8 minutes with the cardamom.
  2. 02Strain into mugs and stir in the jaggery and ghee while still warm.
  3. 03Finish with a small squeeze of lemon if desired and sip slowly.

Nutrition notes

Per cup (≈): 35 kcal · 0 g protein · 7 g carbs · 1 g fat. Gingerols stimulate digestion; jaggery provides quick, mineral-rich grounding sweetness.

Serving notes

Serve warm in small cups — two cups make one serving for two. Sip slowly between meals, never with food. Make fresh; do not store. Pair with a few soaked almonds for sustained energy.

Practitioner note

Avoid in high Pitta, peptic ulcer or active heartburn. For Kapha, drop the jaggery and ghee.
