Amalaki · Bibhitaki · Haritaki

Traditional uses

Agni dīpana, āma pacana — kindles digestive fire and provides gentle daily detoxification. Tridoshic digestive stimulant.

Typical dosage

Adults: 1–2 tablets at night after meals (max 3 tablets/day). Children: ½–1 tablet at night. Safe for children and adults; no known contraindications with other medication.

¼–½ tsp in the morning before meals. Not suitable for children under 16. Anupāna: Vata — warm water/milk or ½ tsp ghee; Pitta — lukewarm water, coriander water, buttermilk, ghee or warm milk; Kapha — lukewarm water or warm almond milk.

Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) root

Traditional uses

Women's disorders, menopause, fertility, low libido, menstrual irregularities. Decreases Pitta and Vata; balances Kapha.

Typical dosage

¼–½ tsp in the morning before meal. Not suitable for children under 16. Contraindicated in those undergoing hormone therapy. Anupāna varies by dosha (warm water/milk, coriander water, buttermilk, ghee).

Manimantha Choorna

Haritaki · Saindhava lavana (rock salt) · Carminative spices

Traditional uses

Dīpana–pācana — effective for all types of digestive disorders, increases appetite, relieves bloating and piles. Pitta balancing, increases Vata, decreases Kapha.

Typical dosage

½ tsp twice a day before meals. Not suitable for children under 16. Anupāna: Vata — warm water or ½ tsp ghee; Pitta — warm water, coriander water, buttermilk, ½ tsp ghee; Kapha — lukewarm or hot water.

Sudarshana Tablet

Vati (tablet)

Ingredients

Kiratatikta (Swertia chirayita) · 50+ classical herbs of the Sudarshana formula

Traditional uses

Pacifies tridoṣa with primary Pitta-haram action. All kinds of fever, anaemia, jaundice, excess thirst, vertigo, confusion. Pain relief for back ache, joint disorders; respiratory disorders including cough and asthma.

Typical dosage

1–2 tablets a day after meals. Not suitable for children under 16. Anupāna: Vata — warm water/milk or ½ tsp ghee; Pitta — room-temperature water, coriander water, buttermilk, warm milk or ½ tsp ghee; Kapha — lukewarm water or almond milk.

Dhathree Choorna

Ingredients

Amalaki (Dhātrī) · Mild purgative & dīpana herbs

Traditional uses

Āma pācana (gentle purgative), agni dīpana, supports digestion during sleep. Mild sedative effect noted in Western use (not described in classical sources). Increases Vata (apāna vāyu); balances Pitta and Kapha.

Typical dosage

1 teaspoon before bed in 30 ml hot water. Not suitable for children under 16.

Typical dosage

External use only. Apply to affected area and massage well. Where there is swelling and inflammation, apply only without massage.

Pitta-reducing oil for inflammatory conditions with redness, swelling and heat. Rheumatoid arthritis (apply only, do not massage), menopausal hot flushes (whole-body application), psoriasis, Pitta-type eczema, dermatitis, piles, fistula, burning sensation, itching, gout.

Typical dosage

External use only. Apply to affected area and massage gently — in active inflammation, apply only without massage.

Kumari (aloe vera) · Cooling Pitta-pacifying herbs · Coconut/sesame oil base

Traditional uses

Pitta-reducing scalp and head oil. Migraine, headaches, boils or pimples on the head (not face), hair loss, scalp inflammation, scalp irritation, scalp psoriasis, insomnia (apply to head before sleeping).

Typical dosage

External use. Massage 1–2 tsp into the scalp; for insomnia apply at the crown before sleep and leave overnight.

Kapha-reducing oil for pain relief. Nerve or muscle pain, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis (NOT rheumatoid arthritis or other inflammatory arthritis). Useful in obesity and water retention.

Typical dosage

External use. Warm before application; massage into affected area. Avoid in inflammatory conditions.

Traditional uses

Vata-increasing tonic oil. Muscular atrophy, nervous system disorders (increases nerve circulation), male impotence and erectile dysfunction (apply to affected area). Rejuvenates skin texture and muscle tone; energiser. Used for asthma, cough, shortness of breath, weight loss and anorexia.

Typical dosage

External use. Massage warm oil over affected area daily; for general tonification use as Abhyanga oil.

Neelyadee Tailam

Typical dosage

External use. Massage 1–2 tsp into scalp 2–3 times weekly; leave 30 minutes to overnight before washing.
